Nintendo has announced that a Nintendo Direct centred around Kirby Air Riders will take place tonight, August 19, at 11pm.
We’ve had more Nintendo Directs than you can shake a stick at recently, and the house that Mario built isn’t done yet. Taking to the Nintendo App and its various socials, Nintendo announced that the next Direct, set for later today, will focus solely on the upcoming Kirby Air Riders game. The direct will run for a whopping 45 minutes, giving viewers an “in-depth look” at the title.
Directed by Masahiro Sakurai, the man behind the Super Smash Bros, Air Riders is a sequel to the GameCube title, Kirby Air Ride. The original was a kart-style racing game that saw Kirby, Waddle-Dee, and friends race across various tracks atop stars, collecting power-ups from the mainline series to use against each other to win. It’s a cult classic that’s looked back on with fondness, but it’s not a game that many were expecting to see a sequel of, let alone one led by Sakurai.
Join us on Aug 19 at 6 a.m. PT for a #KirbyAirRiders Direct with director Mr. Sakurai. The livestreamed presentation will last roughly 45 minutes and provide an in-depth look at the upcoming #NintendoSwitch2 game. #NintendoDirect
