Classification boards can be a gold mine for leaks, with a ton of game announcements being spoiled in the past before their official unveiling. The Australian Classification Board is no stranger to headlines, whether it’s the refusal to classify a title or the accidental leak of a game itself, most recently Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & The Secret Fairy, and it seems that another game has slipped through the cracks, this time a virtual reality title from id Software and Bethesda.
Submitted under the name Project 2021A, the title has been given an R18+ rating due to high impact violence, strong impact themes and mild impact language. There is no mention of which platform Project 2021A will release on, nor when we will see it, and the only information to glean from the classification is that it will have some form of online interactivity.
In 2017 the studio released DOOM VFR for PlayStation VR, HTC Vive, Valve Index and Windows Mixed Reality, and many fans have been clamouring for Bethesda and id Software to add VR support to DOOM Eternal, unfortunately nothing has materialised as of yet. However, could id Software be developing a new DOOM experience for VR? Or is it something entirely new? We’ll have to wait and see (or keep a close eye on the classification board).
