Ubisoft has announced that Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been delayed from November 12 to February 14, 2025, and has also revealed that the game will now launch on Steam on day one.
The news was posted on social media with a message to players explaining that the delay resulted from the devs needing more time for polishing and refinement.
“We realize we need more time to polish and refine the experience, pushing further some of our key features,” said Marc-Alexis Côté, Vice President and Executive Producer of Assassin’s Creed products.
The French company also announced that the game would be launching on Steam on day one alongside other platforms, the first time a Ubisoft game has done so since 2019, and as a gesture of gratitude for players’ patience, Ubisoft has stated that it will be refunding all pre-orders and all future pre-orders will receive the game’s first expansion for free.

An Assassin’s Creed game set in Feudal Japan has been long desired, so a delay was always going to be disappointing for fans. However, delays for extra polish are rarely – if ever – a bad call, so we’ll trust that the right decision has been made. Even if it does mean February is super stacked now.
