EA has officially announced Battlefield 6, confirming that a reveal trailer will debut on July 25 at 1am.
We’ve known for a while now that the next Battlefield is in the late stages of development, but we know now that the title will be Battlefield 6, the next numbered entry in the series. The announcement itself is a brief and somewhat cryptic teaser trailer (more of a GIF, really) posted to Battlefield’s socials, but we can infer a few things if we look closely.
The trailer/image depicts four soldiers, likely forming a classic four-man Battlefield squad, looking over an active war zone. Firstly, based on the kits and weapons each soldier is carrying, it appears that the beloved class system may be making a proper return. To my eyes, this looks like a team comprised of an Assault, Engineer, Support, and Recon class, but that’s just a guess for now.
Secondly, looking at the burning city this squad is moving towards gives us a potential clue as to the game’s setting, or at the very least, a location for a multiplayer map. Based on the river surrounding the heavily built-up city, combined with what looks to be the Brooklyn Bridge on the left-hand side of the image, it seems safe to assume that these lads are heading to Manhattan Island in New York. It’s all speculation at this point, but a multiplayer match in a city as dense as New York sounds like a recipe for chaos.
The full reveal trailer is set to drop at the rough time of 1am this Friday, so set your alarms or set in for a late night and a brutal Friday at work.

Battlefield 2042 was the last entry into the series, and it was met with a fair amount of criticism at launch, primarily for ditching classes in favour of specialists with kits and signature abilities. The core gameplay and addition of Portal, a community-driven mode, were enough for me to slap an 8 on the game as part of my review, but 2042 had a rocky first few years regardless of my initial thoughts.
Not long after launch, I also fell off the bandwagon, having grown disillusioned with the Specialist system, but through many updates and content drops, 2042 eventually found its feet in 2023 (again, in my opinion).
