Battlefield 6 – Season 2 Is Introducing New Maps, Weapons, Limited-Time Modes, And The Dreaded Little Bird

Chemical warfare

Battlefield Studios has pulled back the curtain and revealed what players can expect from Battlefield 6‘s second season of post-launch content, which kicks off on February 17.

Following the recent tease of the first new map coming as part of Season 2, the doors have been blown open, and we now know what to expect from the three phases that make up this new round of content. The first wave of content, titled Extreme Measures, will introduce the aforementioned new map, Contaminated. Alongside this new playground for destruction, a limited-time event called VL-7 Strike will shake things up by introducing chemical warfare to the mix, making capture points far harder to conquer and defend. Gauntlet Altered State and Synthesis are two more limited-time events that will make their way to the two REDSEC modes, Gauntlet and Battle Royale, respectively.

Three new weapons and two new gadgets will also be joining the fray with Extreme Measures, those being the VCR-2 assault rifle, GRT-CPS DMR, M121 A2 LMG, the HTI-MRK2, and the 9K38 IGLA launcher. Last but not least, when Season 2 kicks off, a new vehicle will curse the skies and strike fear into anyone on foot. That’s right, the fan favourite/highly hated helicopter, the AH-6 Little Bird, and its MH-350 counterpart will be thrown into the game’s larger maps.

The next phase of Season 2, titled Nightfall, will add another map to Hagental Base, a more claustrophobic area that borders Contamination. The Nightfall limited-time event will plunge the map into darkness, necessitating the use of flashlights and night vision goggles, while those playing REDSEC will be enjoying the nighttime fun in the Gauntlet Nightfall mode. The CZ3A1 assault rifle and the fully-automatic VZ. 61 sidearm will expand your arsenal, while the introduction of the M1030-1 dirt bike is sure to make larger maps far more chaotic…and rad.

Finally, the third Season 2 phase, Hunter/Prey, begins on April 14, bringing a limited-time event called Operation Augur. This mode will see players battle across both the Contamination and Hagental Base maps in a vicious push-and-pull game until one team comes out on top. Those who have played the Operations mode in Battlefield 1 will be familiar with the concept and will likely be excited to see it return. Updates to Portal, a new LTV vehicle, and a Ripper Machete melee weapon will also be added at this time, with more yet to be revealed.

A new battle pass and plenty of bonus path cosmetics will be scattered throughout the season, so there’s a lot to look forward to in the coming months if you’re a fan of Battlefield 6.
