Battlefield 6 Season 3 – Blastpoint went live today, bringing with it a new map, a new permanent mode, a new weapon, a new gadget, and a free trial period that will run until June 16.
Today, we see Battlefield 6 Season 3 move into its second of three phases, titled Blastpoint. As detailed in the game’s content roadmap, Season 3 Blastpoint is bringing back a fan-favourite map from Battlefield 3, reimagined and reworked for Battlefield 6. Cairo Bazaar, originally named Grand Bazaar, is the latest map added into rotation, bringing with it some nasty close-quarters gameplay and plenty of new flanking options that weren’t possible in the first iteration.
Continuing the nostalgia run, the new mode introduced in this content drop comes to us from Battlefield 4. Obliteration will see two teams of 32 players attempt to shepherd a neutral explosive to enemy M-COMs in order to destroy them and win the match. If you missed out on Obliteration back when BF4 was about, lock in, because it’s sweaty, it’s tense, and it’s difficult as all hell. Rounding out the multiplayer content is the introduction of the PP-19 SMG and the handheld jammer gadget, both of which will be unlockable through the Explosive Charge bonus path as free tiers.
Finally, to mark the occasion, Battlefield 6 is getting a free trial period between June 10-16. During this time, those who haven’t bought in can play five of the game’s modes (Obliteration, Breakthrough, Casual Breakthrough, Conquest, and Escalation) across four of its maps (Railway to Golmud, Cairo Bazaar, Contaminated, and Eastwood). These maps and modes are a great example of why I’ve sunk nearly 200 hours into the online shooter, so I’d encourage folks to get around this free trial to see if BF6 is your flavour of shooty bangs.
