Battlefield Studios has revealed the content roadmap for Battlefield 6, detailing the content coming to the first-person shooter throughout the remainder of 2026.
Now that the final portion of Season 2 is in full swing, Battlefield Studios has outlined what’s next in the content pipeline. Across the next three seasons, seven maps will be added to the game, alongside various weapons, modes, and highly requested features.
Kicking off in May, Season 3 looks to the past to move into the future. The first of the season’s two new maps will be Railway to Gulmod, a reimagined version of the popular Golmud Railway map from Battlefield 4. Featuring wide open areas for vehicle-based shenanigans, as well as newly adjusted close-quarters spaces, Gulmod will be the largest map in the game, coming in at four times larger than Mirak Valley. The second map coming in Season 3 is another reimagining, this time of the Battlefield 3 map, Grand Bazaar. Now named Cairo Bazaar, this nasty little meat grinder will give Battlefield veterans nightmares, with its tight corridors and awesome chokepoints.
Alongside new weapons and modes, Season 3 will also introduce solos to REDSEC’s Battle Royale, as well as a ranked mode and leaderboards for those who want to climb the ranks and prove their superiority.
Season 4 begins in July and brings a highly requested feature: naval combat. Two new naval-based maps will be added, with the first being Tsuru Reef, a large-scale map that will overtake Golmud as the largest in the game. The second is a reimagining of Wake Island, a map first introduced in Battlefield 1942 that has since appeared in various other titles. Both maps will feature aircraft carriers with operational flight decks, various naval vehicles, and a dynamic wave system that will make traversal more engaging and strategic. More weapons, vehicles, and modes will be added, along with spectator mode and custom lobbies.
While we don’t have any solid details outside of a super-brief teaser image, we do know that the final season of the year will feature three maps instead of two, which many fans will be pleased to hear.
In addition to the new content, a raft of features and improvements will be introduced periodically throughout the year. Combat tuning, soldier visibility, progression tweaks, and matchmaking enhancements are on the way, coming off the back of player feedback. In terms of new features, Battlefield Studios is currently working on proximity chat, multiplayer leaderboards, and the return of platoons. Most importantly, a multiplayer server browser is finally on the way, filling in a gap that’s been missing since launch. Finally, both New Sobek City and Blackwell Fields are getting a rework based on player feedback, which both maps definitely need.
While Battlefield 6 has copped some flak for its approach to post-launch content, it’s great to have a roadmap filled with highly requested features and map types.
