The open beta for Battlefield 6 has been a major success, drawing in a supremely massive number of players – at least, on the Steam platform.
While there is no doubt that console platforms saw a bunch of warfare on their end, there is no simple resource to clock those figures – so let’s take a peek at those immense Steam digits, shall we?
Early on, people reported that the numbers were impressive – even when the early access period had nearly ten thousand people sitting on the main menu screen, waiting for the Beta to kick off.
You read that right: 10,000 people were sitting in the menu, waiting to play, for more than ten hours.
Once the actual experience went live though, it started smashing records – including a pretty cheeky one that targeted the nearest competitor for serious-shooty-bang-bang, via the Call of Duty concurrent player count:

The game’s popularity wasn’t limited to playing, either, with peak Twitch viewership for the beta soaring past 850,000 viewers at one time.
I personally spent nearly 17 hours in the Beta experiencing the newest generation of field-based battle – and I gotta say, I was enjoying it greatly, considering the experience had no major teething issues. I could wax lyrical about my findings, but our own Battlefield veteran Adam Ryan has already done so, better than I ever could. There is a clear reason why so many people turned out to the experience.
This overwhelming engagement and massive player count seemingly send a clear message: Battlefield is back.
And if you have not experienced it for yourself, another beta weekend will be available this coming weekend (August 14-17) so if you have an inkling of interest, give it a crack.
Maybe the next beta period will hit even higher heights.
