Battlefield Studios and EA have announced that Battlefield 6 will be releasing on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on October 10.
In the early hours of this morning, EA hosted the Battlefield 6 multiplayer reveal event in Los Angeles, confirming the game’s October release date while lifting the lid on plenty of details about new online modes and features. Littered with first looks at gameplay and clips of crashing helicopters, the reveal confirmed that classes will be making their highly anticipated return to the series following their omission in Battlefield 2042.
Assault, Recon, Support, and Engineer classes are all kitted with unique gadgets, special weapons, and abilities that make them vital to a well-functioning squad of four. The core multiplayer suite will feature a range of modes, from series classics like Conquest, Rush, and Domination, to genre classics like Team Deathmatch and Squad Deathmatch. BF6 will also introduce Escalation, a new mode similar to Conquest that will see the command posts whittled down until there is one climactic fight for superiority at the end of the match.
Battlefield 6 will also feature a returning mode from Battlefield 2042 in the form of Portal, the community-driven creation suite that lets players concoct their own Battlefield experiences. This time around, Portal will have an expanded set of creation tools that will allow players to mess with geometry and AI scripting to build entirely new game modes from scratch.

During the reveal event, it was also announced that Battlefield 6 will receive two open beta weekends that will take place:
- August 9-10
- August 14-17
There will be an early access period on the first weekend for those who took part in the Battlefield Labs testing program. If you’re keen to gain access and join in early on August 7, you can tune into one of the many creator streams taking place this morning as part of the reveal event to try your luck at a Twitch drop.
While there was little more than a hint at the single-player campaign during today’s reveal, we do have a few extra details on what to expect. Players will embody members of the Marine Raiders squad Dagger 1-3 as they wage war against a dangerous paramilitary army known as Pax Armata. Set in 2027, the events of the game kick off following a “high-profile assassination,” with the promise of action taking place around the world.
Last but not least, the devs teased the “Battlefield experience” that the folks over at Ripple Effect have been working on, with a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it trailer. Nothing outside of a confirmation that it’s coming to Battlefield Labs was revealed, but it’s almost certainly the rumoured battle royale.
