It’s been a tidy fourteen years since iconic emo lad Illidan Stormrage made it clear that we were not prepared – but lucky for us, we get a second chance to give it a crack.
Starting 2 June AEST/NZST, all interested parties can squeeze on through the dark portal and face the Betrayer once again with the worldwide launch of World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade Classic.

Set your clocks – OUTLAND AWAITS
The fun truly begins on the 19th of May AEST/NZST, when the Burning Crusade Classic pre-expansion patch initially drops – shifting the entire game into the Burning Crusade ruleset. This also provides players access to the new blood elf and draenei races, which will allow the cross-pollination of the Paladin and Shaman classes across both factions – a welcome head start for players to catch up before the post-level 60 content goes live in June.
It remains to be seen if the excitement for the original WoW Classic experience was truly dedicated to the vanilla experience, or whether people were just treating it as the necessary stepping stone to get their hands on the real prize – flying mounts and arena PVP.
Come June, we will know for sure – TBC may surpass meteoric the popularity of Classic itself!
