Developer Infinity Ward and publisher Activision have released a gameplay reveal trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, while also providing a wealth of new information about what to expect from the upcoming sequel.
Following on from 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the slick gameplay trailer shows Captain Price and Task Force 141 stealthily moving through multiple locations and getting into visually-impressive firefights with the enemy. We get a brief look at conflicts taking place on a rocking ship at sea, within compounds and even a stealth section underwater.

Additionally, Daniel Noel, a writer for Activision, went into extensive detail over on the PlayStation Blog and Xbox Wire, on the game’s campaign and multiplayer offerings.
The campaign, as would be expected being titled Modern Warfare II, is a direct sequel to 2019’s reboot. The action-packed story mode will have players gunning down enemies across the world from Europe and Asia to the Americas. The beloved Task Force 141 is making a return, with the aforementioned Captain Price leading favourites Ghost, Soap, Gaz and newcomer Colonel Alejandro Vargas into battle. Once you’ve conquered the campaign, the two-player co-op mode Special Ops will be waiting for you.
As for multiplayer, players will have access to a range of different maps, weapons and Operators at launch, with plenty of post-launch content drops scheduled to keep things fresh as time rolls on. The Gunsmith feature, which lets you customise your gear and weapons, has seen been revamped to offer even more flexibility to your load-outs. On a technical level, Modern Warfare II will feature enhanced rendering and photogrammetry technology to provide sharper environments, while also offering an advanced AI that will allow enemies and friendly NPCs to act more tactically.
Lastly, it was mentioned that the new Warzone, the follow-up to the popular Call of Duty battle royale, will be running off the same technology as Modern Warfare II, providing a similar feel and experience between the two games. This new Warzone game will be free-to-play and available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC later this year.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II will release on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC on October 28.
