Capcom Registers “Onimusha” Trademark

So yeah, that happened

It has been a long time coming that fans would hear anything at all about the return of the much beloved Onimusha series.

However today something happened, with a filing to register the trademark for “鬼武者” (Onimusha) discovered by NeoGAF user miku.

The Onimusha series began in 2001 with the release of Onimusha: Warlords, and was nearly abandoned after Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams in 2006. The IP was also used for a recently closed spin-off browser and mobile game named Onimusha: Soul (but it really had very little to do with the original series). DYEGB’s very own Zach holds the series very dear to his heart so for his sake, let us hope this isn’t a ruse.

The trademark numbered 2015-112878, could really mean anything at this point, but it is at the very least something.

For now we can only hope for a revival!
