Chainsaw Like Hell At ACMI

Melbourne’s the best hell in Australia.

In celebration of the launch of the new Doom  game, Bethesda have partnered with Rob Bast, the Australian chainsaw carver. This partnership resulted in an 8-foot tall sculpture of the iconic Revenant from the Doom series. The sculpture is to be exhibited from today at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image – ACMI for short.

For the uninformed, the chainsaw is a major icon from the Doom series. Low-key, it’s one of my favourite weapons. Rob has painstakingly recreated one of Doom’s most fearsome foes in the form of an incredibly detailed sculpture made entirely from recycled sustainable cypress wood. The sculpture itself took around 150 hours to make. Those are you average RPG hours, jeez.

Doom has been developed at id Software, the studio that pioneered the first-person shooter genre and invented multiplayer Deathmatch. Relentless demons, impossibly destructive guns, and fast, fluid movement provide the foundation for intense, first-person combat – whether you’re obliterating demon hordes through the depths of Hell in the single-player campaign, or competing against your friends in numerous multiplayer modes. Expand your gameplay experience using DOOM SnapMap game editor to easily create, play, and share your content with the world.
