Devolver Reveals And Shadow Releases Survival Horror Game Look Outside

Draw the curtains and blinds

Devolver Digital has announced a retro survival horror title, Look Outside, that has shadow-dropped and is available right now on PC via Steam.

Developed by the one-man artist, animator, and developer Francis ‘Frankie’ Coloumbe, Look Outside is a creepy and uncomfortable survival horror game with a pixel art style and unnerving character designs. Your TV has told you that it’ll be safe to leave your apartment in 15 days, so you’re tasked with exploring the building and surviving the residents who have looked outside their windows and turned into otherworldly abominations.

Resource management and a turn-based combat system make up the bulk of your horrifying adventure, as you encounter former neighbours who have transformed into body horror nightmares with dozens of eyes and awful protrusions.

You can watch the reveal/launch trailer for Look Outside here:

Thanks to Devolver, we were fortunate enough to get an early code for Look Outside, and I’ve been playing through the uneasy title over the past few days. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the tense and unwaveringly creepy atmosphere of the apartment building the poor protagonist is trapped within. Despite the danger, I’ve eagerly sought out every enemy encounter just to see their brilliantly disgusting designs.

The turn-based combat is suitably challenging, and up to this point, the variety of makeshift weapons and hand-drawn enemies to use them on has been extensive. While playing it on my Steam Deck in bed might not be doing me any good for my sleep schedule, I’m keen to continue with this creative horror experience.

If Look Outside sounds like the gross horror game you’re looking for, you can head over to Steam and grab it for yourself for $14.99 right now.

Does Look Outside have you peering through the curtains at its Steam page? Let us know in the comments or on our social media.
