Geoff Keighley has almost become the games industry’s Santa Claus. If Santa rocked up three or four times a year, had an ever-present social media presence, and insisted on wearing skate shoes with a suit. Anywho, Summer Game Fest took place live from LA this morning, bringing with it a host of new trailers, reveals, announcements, release dates, and a few decent surprises thrown in for good measure. Forcing Aussies to get up at 7am on a Saturday is a bit of a crime, but I’ll forgive Geoff this time. But just this time.
Here are all of the announcements made during Summer Game Fest 2025:
Mortal Shell II
The cheeky little Soulslike that could is back…with guns. Combat looks savage, the enemy designs are gross and creepy in equal measure, and the introduction of firearms will likely make Bloodborne fans as happy as they can be without a sequel or remake. The Shell mechanic is returning in this standalone follow-up, bringing with it over 60 dungeons for players to get destoryed in. This one is dropping on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC in 2026.
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach
Geoff Keighley’s best friend takes to the stage. Hideo Kojima joins the LA celebration to show off a new clip from Death Stranding 2, one that’s unlikely to make any sense to those who haven’t played the first game and a small amount of sense to those who have. Luca Marinelli and Alissa Jung’s characters, Neil and Lucy, have a tense interaction, revealing matching marks on their hands. The scars will have a proper noun; there’s no doubt.
Chronicles: Medieval
Knights, horses, flagons, massive armies, Zach was in a state when this hit the screen. Precious little was properly shown here outside of some cinematic sword-swinging, but developer Raw Power Games promises a brutal and tactical melee action game set in a sandbox environment with a huge scale. The premise is there, but we’ll need to wait to hear more as we lead up to the release of Chronicles: Medieval in 2026.
Sonic Racing CrossWorlds
Yeah, look, I’ve been playing a lot of Mario Kart World these past few days, but I think there’s room for more than one cart racer out there. This fresh new trailer gave us another look at gameplay, but it was all about the guest character reveals. Hatsune Miku, Like a Dragon’s Ichiban Kasuga and Persona 5’s Joker are all joining the 23-character strong roster on launch. And, if that wasn’t enough for you, Minecraft’s Steve is also being added as post-launch DLC. What a time to be alive. Rounding out this segment, we also got a confirmed release date of September 25.
Code Vein 2
If we ignore the overly smooth Fortnite skin on the protagonist, the character designs in this trailer are top-notch. A girl with candles where her face should be? Hell yeah. A sequel to the vampire-ridden anime-inspired Soulslike is coming. We got a sneaky bit of gameplay during the reveal, as well as a little hint at some of the boss enemies players will encounter. Code Vein 2 is scheduled for a 2026 release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
End of Abyss
This is the first new reveal that had my tired arse sitting up. End of Abyss is the debut title from Section 9, a team based in Malmo. An isometric adventure game with horror and sci-fi elements, End of Abyss looks to employ twin-stick shooting to aid you in fending off monstrous beings that split apart and shamble towards you. Creepy, ominous, and unique, this is one that I’ll be keeping a very close eye on. End of Abyss is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC in 2026.
Mouse P.I. For Hire
The first-person shooter with a rubber hose aesthetic continues to look great. Mouse is shaping up to be a unique FPS that goes beyond its cool look, and to elevate that even further, Fumi Games has scrolled through the Rolodex of voice actors and called up the one and only Troy Baker to take on the protagonist role of Jack Pepper. What will the man do next? Mouse is coming later in 2025.
Game of Thornes: War for Westeros
A huge announcement for the Aussie games industry. Developed by Playside, War for Westeros is a real-time free-for-all strategy game that will let players choose one of the great houses and go to war with other players in an attempt to claim the Iron Throne. The trailer we got here was just a cinematic, but hot damn, it was a good one. We will wait patiently for War for Westeros to release on PC in 2026.
Atomic Heart 2
Hmm, this is an interesting one. Said by Geoff to be a spiritual sequel instead of a full-blown follow-up, Atomic Heart 2 looks to be just as ridiculous and odd as the first game, now with a weird orb car thing that can walk. The sequel is said to expand on the RPG systems from the first and seemingly features a 90% increase in objectified women. This one is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
The Cube
Umm, I’m not sure about this one. Off the back of the Atomic Heart 2 reveal, we saw the unveiling of The Cube, an MMO shooter set in the Atomic Universe, which is now a thing. Players inhabit a huge, ever-changing cube with various biomes and locations, and that’s about all we know for now. The egregiously dressed women are still present, so that’s…something. This one is also coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
Marvel Cosmic Invasion
The Marvel-ised beat ‘em up from Tribute Games Inc. announced that Rocket Racoon and She-Hulk are joining the roster, bringing litigious fisticuffs and massive firepower to the pixel-pounding experience. Still no formal release date for the thing, but we are tickled to see Jen Walters getting in on the action.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword
No, Zach, we didn’t get a release date, I’m sorry. We did, however, get a super brief look at some gameplay and the reveal that there’s a woman hiding away in the gauntlet. I’m already sold on Onimusha, so a teeny trailer like this is just fine by me.
Felt That: Boxing
I think there is a deeply untapped potential in muppet look-alike media. So why not make a ridiculous boxing thing where puppets beat the fluff out of each other? Want to battle your way through the Tournament of a Million Punches to save an orphanage? Do it when Felt That: Boxing comes out sometime in the future.
Killer Inn
Killer Inn is a multiplayer murder mystery third-person shooter that will have 24 players running around accusing each other of being a killer. The idea is certainly here, but the execution looks a little run-of-the-mill. Who knows, maybe we will be surprised. A closed beta is coming to Steam soon.
Arc Raiders
I’ve had my eye on Arc Raiders for years now, and on October 30, I’ll finally get to play it. The multiplayer extraction shooter by Embark Studios is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC just before Halloween this year.
Dune: Awakening
The survival MMO set within the Dune universe has been hotly anticipated for an age at this stage, and those who are fervently waiting will be released onto the sand or Arrakis on June 10. This new trailer showed off the potential for faction warfare if you can drag yourself away from crafting the perfect home on the dunes.
Chrono Odyssey
“Harness the Chronotector and arise as a Sentinel to quell the Void.”
That’s the little blurb for Chrono Odyssey under the new trailer, and I have no clue what it means. I do, however, know that the game is an open-world MMORPG with real-time action combat and a lot of particle effects. A playtest was announced to be running between June 20-22 on Steam.
Mio: Memories in Orbit
A Metroidvania with a killer art style, Mio: Memories in Orbit, is one that we were lucky enough to preview recently, coming away with a lot of positive thoughts. Better than listen to us talk about it, though, you can now play it for yourself on PC and Xbox thanks to a free demo.
Out of Words
Another standout from the showcase, Out of Words is a co-op adventure platformer for two. Featuring a gorgeous handmade stop-motion art style (the characters are literally handmade), this is one for couples and friends who loved Split Fiction, Unravel, and It Takes Two. Coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC in 2026.
Mafia: The Old Country
We’ve seen a fair bit from Hangar 13’s upcoming crime game, but here we have another look at the game’s story. We see the Torrisi Family business in full swing, with deals made, pacts sworn, and bullets flying. Mafia: The Old Country releases on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC on August 8.
LEGO Voyagers
It’s a good day for fans of cute co-op games to play with their partner. Similar again to Hazelight’s game, Voyagers sees two players each embody a single LEGO brick as they work through a variety of puzzles that incentivise creativity. I hate to use the word, but this one looks awfully cozy and decidedly less action-packed than Split Fiction. I’m in. LEGO Voyagers is coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC.
Nictoons and the Dice of Destiny
Mashing together various iconic Nickelodeon characters, such as SpongeBob SquarePants, in a real-time action RPG seems like a winning formula for younger gamers and those who grew up with the channel. The 2D art style is odd, but I’d prefer that over awkward 3D models of 2D characters. Coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch and PC later in 2025.
Fractured Blooms
Doki Doki meets Silent Hill is a bold statement made by Geoffers, but Fractured Blooms does look pretty eerie. What initially appears to be a first-person walking sim quickly turns into a nightmare of ominous narration and spooky visuals. Saying that it’s like Doki Doki is an interesting move that steals away the surprise, but it does look interesting.
Lies of P: Overture
There’s nothing quite like a shadow drop, especially when it’s for something that everyone is sweating on. Lies of P is arguably one of the best Soulslikes not developed by FromSoftware, so it’s easy to understand why folks are excited by the prospect of new content. The game’s first DLC, Overture, won’t keep fans waiting any longer, as it dropped during the showcase and is available now.
Jurassic World Evolution 3
The next instalment in the park management sim wasn’t just announced during Summer Game Fest, we actually have a release date, too. New social systems and enhancements to the creation suite will no doubt have fans of the first two games coming back when Jurassic Park Evolution 3 releases on PS5, Xbox Series X| and PC on October 21.
Mina the Hollower
Yacht Club Games, the team behind Shovel Knight, has the weight of the world on its shoulders trying to follow up on its last game, but Mina the Hollower looks to be relieving a lot of the weight even before launch. A retro-style action-adventure title in the same vein as the 2D Zelda titles, Mina is as cute as it will likely be difficult. Thankfully, we won’t need to wait much longer, as Mina the Hollower has been announced to be coming on October 31 to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. If you don’t want to wait, you can play a free demo on Steam right now.
Deadpool VR
Good lord, Geoff did a bit on-stage. This makes a lot of sense, though the gameplay looks kinda awkward. I will say, it’s hard to capture a VR with a trailer on a flat screen, so let’s give Deadpool VR the benefit of the doubt. This is exactly what you would expect: The Merc with a Mouth slicing, dicing, and generally eviscerating goons with guns and katanas in every direction. Coming to Meta Quest later in 2025.
Dying Light: The Beast
Kyle Crane returns in Dying Light: The Beast, the next entry in the Dying Light series. We got an action-packed trailer that announced the August 22 release date for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Mixtape
We got a new look at Mixtape, the latest narrative adventure from Melbourne’s Beethoven & Dinosaur. This time around, we got to see some gameplay, which involved kickflipping around a mall, messing up a video store, and blasting tunes in your car. Teenager stuff. This game continues to look excellent, so I wish we got a release date here.
Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree
My tired morning eyes were starting to glaze over by this stage, but I focused enough to see a bright and vibrant isometric action game with mythological creatures and ability-popping gameplay. Anthropomorphic anime animal characters are abundant here, so you’ll know if it’s your thing or not pretty quickly. Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree launches across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC on September 19.
Acts of Blood
The debut title from the Indonesian studio Eksil Team, Acts of Blood, is a third-person beat-’em-up brawler that shares more than a bit in common with Sifu. Brutal close-quarters fisticuff action is accompanied by various melee weapons and, moving away from Sifu slightly, a sprinkling of firearms. Judging by the trailer, we’ll also be getting a bit of parkour gameplay to mix things up. I’ll be watching Acts of Blood with great interest. So far, it’s coming to PC in 2026.
Scott Pilgrim EX
For a long while, it looked like Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game had been wiped from this earth, never to return, and now we’re getting a brand new beat-’em-up. What a crazy world. Tribute Games is developing Scott Pilgrim EX, the team behind the fantastic Shredder’s Revenge, so it’s ok to get excited about this one. Gangs threatening Toronto, Ramona teaming with Scott and five other playable characters, we’re in for a good time. This one is hitting PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch, and PC in 2026.
Hitman World of Assassination | James Bond crossover content
IO Interactive is working on the new 007 First Light game, so it makes sense for Hitman to get a crossover mission. The new content, which is available now, sees Agent 47 hunting down Le Chiffre, the villain portrayed by Mads Mikkelsen from Casino Royale. Better still, Mads is back to voice the threatening poker player. Neat.
LEGO Party!
Moving from international assassinations to LEGO is a bit jarring, but here we are. LEGO Party! was an announcement I initially dismissed until I realised that this party game was developed by Aussie developer and team behind Moving Out, SMG Studios. Looking at the gameplay, it’s no coincidence that Mario also has a game ending in the word Party. Working around a game board, players will compete in minigames and activities that will make you yell at each other. It looks like a good bit of fun. Coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch, and PC later this year.
Wildgate
Ok, think Sea of Thieves, but you’re on an interstellar ship hurtling through the vacuum of space., battling other players in a bid to come away with the most valuable artefacts. Oh, and not die. If you’re keen to give this one a crack before release, you’re in luck, as Wildgate is getting an open beta from June 9-16. And if you like what you play, you’ll only need to wait a few more days before the full game launches on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on July 22.
Blighted
Drinlbox Studios, the team behind Guacamelee, has been quiet for a while, and now we know why. The studio’s next game, Blighted, is an isometric action RPG that looks to share some Hades DNA. The world and themes are significantly darker than the team’s previous games, so it’ll be cool to see how far they push away from their past. Blighted is confirmed for PC but doesn’t currently have any release info.
ILL
We here at WellPlayed have been patiently waiting for more info on ILL for some time now, and here it is. A horror-soaked first-person shooter, ILL arms the player with a range of firearms and tasks them with blasting apart zombie-like atrocities of varying degrees of grossness. The body horror monsters bumble about and react to being shot realistically, showing off the game’s focus on physics that might see it stand apart from the pack. We’ll need to see more than a curated trailer, but it’s a solid enough first look. We don’t know when to expect it, but ILL is releasing on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Mecha BREAK
This is one of those games where the title does most of the explaining for me. Mecha BREAK (not sure why we have to yell) is a third-person multiplayer mecha-battling game that promises high-octane fights in a 3v3 or 6v6 format. Folks have been waiting for a release date for this one, and that’s precisely what we got here. Mecha BREAK hits Xbox Series X|S and PC on July 1.
Infinitesimals
From developer Cubit Studios, Infinitesimals is a third-person action game that sees an alien squadron land on a foreign planet, only to realise that they are only the size of a bug compared to the local wildlife. Battling bugs, birds, and the big bad world itself, players will need to stay on their toes and utilise their alien weaponry to survive. This one is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in 2026.
Street Fighter 6 | Season 3 content
You put Kenny Omega on my screen, I’ll pay attention. The Cleaner was here to announce the newest batch of fighters joining the Street Fighter 6 roster as part of Season 3. The Best Bout Machine wore the outfits of each character, which was a treat, as you’ll see. Sagat, C. Viper, Alex, and Ingrid will periodically join the game between now and mid-2026.
Last Flag
With all due respect, I wouldn’t be able to pick this game out of a line-up. Last Flag is a 5v5 shooter that aims to reimagine the classic capture the flag game mode by introducing some interesting wrinkles, such as being able to hide your flag before hunting down the other team’s. Coming to PC in 2026.
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers
We last saw Wuchang: Fallne Feathers during the Xbox Partner Preview in October last year, where it continued to look pretty sweet. The fast-paced swordplay and mystical enemies are equally as alluring, which is handy when we only need to wait until July 24 to play it on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Wu-Tang: Rise of the Deceiver
A Wu-Tang Clan game in the year 2025. Truly, anything can happen. Called into action by Ghostface Killah to save Shaolin and the other members of the Clan, players will fight back against an invading force in this co-op action RPG. We only got a lightning-fast look at gameplay, but the afro-surrealist art style looked pretty sweet. This one is coming to PC.
Into the Unwell
Oh boy, this is a strange little title. The debut game from Malmo-based studio She Was Such A Good Horse! (what a name), Into the Unwell is a third-person roguelike that can be played alone or with two friends. All three of you will be “medicated misfits” seeking relief from your vices…in a well. It’s a bizarre rubber hose game that might just have a bit of that secret sauce. We’ll have to wait and see when it eventually launches on PC.
Splitgate
I’ll tell you what we need more of: battle royales. Nah, that’s being nasty. Splitgate 2, by all accounts, is turning out to be a ripper of an FPS that utilises portals to shake up the genre. The recently released multiplayer title now has a battle royale mode, looking to shake up that subgenre as well. You can jump on PC and get around Splitgate 2 now.
Stranger Than Heaven
Whether you play the studio’s games or not, RGG is untouched when it comes to naming a video game. Stranger Than Heaven is the latest title from the Like a Dragon team, taking players back to Japan in the 1940s. Playing as a hard-boiled detective who isn’t afraid to crack some skulls, Stranger Then Heaven looks to evolve the brawling from Like a Dragon while introducing detective gameplay to make this an L.A. Noire…with over-the-top fistfights.
Resident Evil Requiem
I didn’t mention it above, mainly because it aggravated me, but earlier in the presentation, there was a brief message from Capcom saying that the reveal of the next Resident Evil was just around the corner. That’s it. Frustrating and pointless, those of us in the Discord call were far from pleased. That was before we realised just how close the reveal was. Closing out the show, Capcom unveiled Resident Evil 9, otherwise known as Resident Evil Requiem. Our protagonist is Grace Ashcroft, the daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft from Resident Evil: Outbreak, who will lead the series into a “shift in both tone and gameplay.” We’ll see more from the next Resi game in the series over the next few months for sure, but it’s also not that far away, releasing on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on February 27.
And that’s that, another Summer Game Fest in the books. At a whopping two hours long, the show was probably a bit long, especially for the amount of quality announcements on offer. That said, there were a good handful of genuine surprises and reveals, so there are worse ways to start the day.
If you’re having a lazy weekend and want to watch the entire Summer Game Fest showcase, you can do so here:
