Well that came out of nowhere! While opinions of the event itself are…less than favourable, during Square Enix’s Final Fantasy VII Reunion Concert event today it was announced that the Final Fantasy VII Remake will finally be released on March 3rd, 2020.
Nothing more was said as of yet, but you can expect the game to make a big splash at Square’s E3 presentation tomorrow. I’m still holding out for a surprise demo drop and with a date not too far away who knows?
The game is also seemingly confirmed to be PlayStation exclusive, but there isn’t a lot of clarity around whether this date is for the first ‘episode’ or if that structure has changed. Check out the release date trailer below:
Back to those concert reactions, though:
Sounds like that FF7 concert is the Fyre Fest of #E32019 pic.twitter.com/BGh0jy1rlK

Final Fantasy VII Concert turned scam.. not all songs are live, and 3/4 are MiDi Fileshttps://t.co/kfZKq8S2sh

If you're bummed that you didn't get to go to the Final Fantasy VII orchestra concert tonight, don't be.
So far it's an embarrassment and an insult to the people who paid to be here.

Ouch. Stay tuned!
Kieron started gaming on the SEGA Master System, with Sonic the Hedgehog, Alex Kidd and Wonder Boy. The 20-odd years of his life since have not seen his love for platformers falter even slightly. A separate love affair, this time with JRPGs, developed soon after being introduced to Final Fantasy VIII (ie, the best in the series). Further romantic subplots soon blossomed with quirky Japanese games, the occasional flashy AAA action adventure, and an unhealthy number of indie gems. To say that Kieron lies at the center of a tangled, labyrinthine web of sexy video game love would be an understatement.
