I joked. I laughed. I jested. I flaunted my immunity to the charms of Fortnite, citing that I will never be drawn in (again) as long as they never did a Transformers crossover.
Oh how wrong I was.
A post on the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit has revealed a loading screen within the game that seems to contain a familiar bipedal truck man, with other faces within the piece quickly being verified as legit Fortnite entities:
Given the extreme proximity to the impending release of a new Transformers movie – Transformers: Rise of the Beasts – it makes a great deal of sense that a marketing deal would be popping up.
But – the questions. I have so many questions. Why is Optimus so small? Does he transform? Is he the only converting robot that is dropping off the battle bus? Will there be an event with unique mechanics to introduce him?
…Do I need to level up the Battle Pass to own him?
I feel the sinister hooks of the game sinking in to me once more. I made it past the biggest Marvel event and broke free before it got too bad – but Transformers is something else entirely for me.
