Gran Turismo 7 Is Giving Players A Million Credits With More Big Changes Coming

Polyphony hitting the restart button

Polyphony Digital has announced that Gran Turismo 7 players will receive a bonus of one million credits, as well as detailing the changes that are coming to the game following player backlash.

Players have been frustrated with the changes made to the game since its launch earlier this month, with the in-game economy seeming being adjusted to incentivise the purchase of microtransactions. Then there was the extended server outage, which emphasised the game’s reliance on an internet connection to work. On top of all this is that GT7 is currently the lowest user rated PlayStation exclusive on Metacritic. Suffice to say, it hasn’t been the best launch for GT7.

Which is why Polyphony are making changes. Below is the main takeaway from the blog post, which explains what updates are coming.

To improve the player experience, we will be rolling out a considerable patch in the beginning of April.  The number of events will be increased, and we will reestablish the reward system with greater balance throughout the game to benefit all players.

Updates which will come into effect beginning of April:

  • Increase rewards in the events in the latter half of the World Circuits by approximately 100% on average.
  • Addition of high rewards for clearing the Circuit Experience in all Gold/All Bronze results.
  • Increase of rewards in Online Races.
  • Include a total of eight new one-hour Endurance Race events to Missions. These will also have higher reward settings.
  • Increase the upper limit of non-paid credits in player wallets from 20M Cr. to 100M Cr.
  • Increase the quantity of Used and Legend cars on offer at any given time.

Beyond this there will be a few additional patches deployed between now and the end of April which will add new cars and course layouts and make some other fixes.

It’s clear that Polyphony has heard the collective voices of the fans and is hoping to turn things around.
