Grand Theft Auto VI Delayed Again, Jumping To November 2026

You’ve waited this long, what’s a few more months

You read that right, gone are the hopes of a Q2 release of Grand Theft Auto VI – with an announcement today that the most anticipated title still on boil will now enjoy a further 5-6 months of polish prior to release.

November 19, 2026 is now the date to enjoy the latest crime simulator from Rockstar – just in time for the Holiday season, and offering smaller titles a new window of time to consider their release.

We’ve been here before, when Grand Theft Auto VI was pushed to to May 26, 2026 earlier this year. Considering the wild week that Rockstar has had (including some questionable firings and accusations of union busting) it could well mean that the remaining team have measured up just how much work is left to do, and they’d rather do it in a generous portion of time.

Grand Theft Auto VI is hardly a game that needs to pick a perfect window – it’s a rare case of a game calling the shots for consumers – so the release date is clearly defined as ‘when it is ready’, and November 2026 seems to be the goal.

Unless it gets delayed again. While that may be frustrating for people desperately trying to sync up their time off work, those who enjoy the “we are getting X before GTA VI, aren’t we” memes are eating spectacularly well.

The previous delay was described by Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier as a measured response to scope – so the question now is whether the scope of the game has continued to creep since the previous delay. Perhaps losing 30 staff members has had a serious flow-on effect to the game’s development pace. That, or they are still desperately figuring out what headline grabbing feature needs to be included for maximum coverage. Shrinking horse balls are tough to implement in a semi-tropical setting.
