Another big PlayStation State of Play showcase has come and gone, with around 40 minutes of brand-new trailers, game reveals, release date announcements, DLC and more.
There was a bit of something for everyone in this presentation, from first party and third party studios, so we’ve put together a bit of a rundown on what you might have missed if you didn’t catch it as it aired, or what you might want reminding of after the fact.
You can watch the showcase in full in the video below, or keep reading for details on everything that featured:
Saros Is Housemarque’s Spiritual Follow-Up To Returnal
This one came right at the tail end of the State of Play, but it’s absolutely one of the most exciting debuts of the showcase. Revealed with a striking cinematic trailer, Saros is the next game from Returnal studio, Housemarque, and promises to be an evolution on what the team has built going from the days of Super Stardust all the way up to its 2021 banger.
Saros is set to continue Returnal’s challenging third-person action blueprint and cryptic, character-driven storytelling, but with some significant new wrinkles like permanent gear progression and an ensemble NPC cast. The game’s protagonist, Arjun, is played by none other than Rahul Kohli—known mostly for his work on various TV shows and video games as well as being incredibly attractive. More details are coming soon.
Check out the Saros Announcement Trailer:
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Has A Release Date, And Apes
This one unfortunately leaked ahead of time, by PlayStation’s very own hand, no less, but it’s properly official now—Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is headed to PS5 (and Xbox and PC) on August 28th. The announcement came with a new trailer showing off a whole lot more of the game’s remade scenes and characters, but most importantly confirmed that the Snake vs Monkey mode is back. It might not be a nu-gen Ape Escape, but it’s definitely the best the Pipo Monkeys have ever looked!
Take a look:
PlayStation Plus Is Getting More Day One Releases
PlayStation also took time during the State of Play to introduce February’s lineup of PlayStation Plus Game Catalogue games, headlined by Star Wars Jedi: Survivor but also including a brand-new title in the first episode of Don’t Nod’s Lost Records: Bloom & Rage, which launches on February 18th along with the rest of the drop.
Lost Records isn’t the only Day One launch on the horizon for PS+ Extra and Deluxe subscribers though, with Blue Prince and a new PlayStation port of Abiotic Factor also on the way later in the year.
And that’s somehow not all! It’s also been confirmed that the first three Armored Core games from the original PlayStation, Armored Core, Armored Core Project Phantasma, and Armored Core Master of Arena, will be coming to the service soon.

Days Gone Is Finally Getting The Sequel Everyone Has Been Asking For
Wait, hang on. Just looking at my notes here and… it’s not that. It’s a remaster of the first game.
Ever wanted to play Days Gone but couldn’t stomach a game with no PS5-level visuals, no Tempest 3D Audio and no DualSense features? Well you’re in luck! Days Gone Remastered has all the modern trappings and a bunch of extra content and modes. Great news if you’re into this game. Check out the trailer:
Digimon Is Doing What Pokemon’t
When pretty much everyone you speak to started this trailer asking if we were about to get a new Persona/SMT announcement, you know you’re in for a treat. Doubly so when the thing turns out to be a brand spanker Digimon game.
Digimon Story Time Stranger is a bold new JRPG set to launch later this year, evolving the Digimon Story series with new worlds, new layers of strategy and new Digimon to train and develop.
Have a look at the announcement trailer for Digimon Story Time Stranger below:
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Is Basically A New Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed
If I wasn’t already Chao-mping at the bit for this new Sonic Racing title, the State of Play’s debut gameplay trailer for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds would have more than solidified it. This looks like a direct sequel to Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed in all but name, and takes the evolving track idea even further with portals!
Best of all, there’s a Closed Network Test on the way for anyone keen to get their race on. You can find out more here, or peep the trailer below:
Lies Of P Is Getting A Prequel DLC So Good We Said C*nt About It
Round8 Studio lifted the lid on the previously teased DLC expansion for its well-received Soulslike, Lies of P. Dubbed Overture, it’ll take players on a trip back in time to the early days of the fall of Krat, the main game’s setting. It looks to feature plenty of new twists on the existing gameplay, a striking winter-y vibe and a jacket that made our Senior Editor, James Wood, argue for the use of the word “c*nty” in a headline.
Not Much, What’s Onimusha With You?
Capcom had a strong presence in this State of Play, including a double feature of Onimusha trailers hot off the recent announcements of the brand-new Onimusha: Way of the Sword and a remaster of Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny.
The big-ticket item is, of course, a first proper look at gameplay of the new title and a focus on its protagonist, the legendary Musashi Miyamoto—bearing the visage of late Japanese film star, Toshiro Mifune, known for portraying the historical figure. The action is looking slick, and the enemy designs are already bloody cool, so this could be something pretty special when it hits next year.
Have a geez at the trailer for Onimusha: Way of the Sword, as well as a new look at the Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny remaster, which comes out on May 23rd this year:
Borderlands 4 Looks A Lot Like Borderlands 4
Loot! Guns! Mayhem! Remember these nouns? Well, they’re back, and from the looks of this new Release Date Announcement Trailer for Borderlands 4, their meanings have not changed.
The game is set to launch on September 23rd, with Gearbox calling it the studio’s “most ambitious game to date,” a statement it’s backing up by introducing a double jump move. A special Borderlands 4 Deep Dive State of Play is slated for the coming months, where you’ll get to meet the new Vault Hunters and see the game in more detail. I, unfortunately, won’t be able to stop myself buying and playing this at launch.
Yascuba: Like A Diver
A “chance meeting” between the MINTROCKET team and RGG Studio’s Masayoshi Yokoyama at TGS last year has resulted in a pretty exciting collaboration between Like a Dragon and Dave the Diver.
Ichiban Kasuga and Survive Bar’s very own Kashiwagi Osamu will be taking a trip to the Blue Hole, bringing along with them new stories, team-ups and plenty of minigames (yes, that includes karaoke), in a new paid DLC titled Ichiban’s Holiday coming this April.
They’re Still Making PS VR2 Games
I still love breaking out my PlayStation VR2 as much as I can, so it’s great to see new game announcements continue in these State of Play Showcases. This time around, we got a new trailer for Midnight Walk, which is a game I’ve been super excited about from a team that I adore, as well as the announcement Dreams of Another—a game that I’m now super excited about from a team that I adore:
Midnight Walk — Coming May 8th
Dreams of Another — Coming 2025
Squid Game
Oh shit, my bad. He’s an octopus.
Darwin’s Paradox! looks like a mix of Inside and Octodad, which is something I never would’ve thought of on my own, but that I need in my hands right now.
Fred(dy) Again
Okay, so hear me out. This time there’s a “prototype endoskeleton” that’s able to wear any of the costumes in Murray’s Costume Manor, because I guess folks thought the animatronic mascot eatery bubble of the 80s and 90s was so un-burst-able that investing in cutting edge endoskeleton technology was an economically viable way to sell pizza.
Looks cool, though:
Metal Eden Is A Hard, Core Game
Our very own Ash Wayling has an excellent preview up for Metal Eden, which does far better a job than I could at describing what’s going on here, so go read that.
The game launches on May 6th, and the Reveal Trailer is just below:
Look Into Your MindsEye
In development at Build A Rocket Boy, the global studio spun up by ex-Rockstar North president, Leslie Benzies, MindsEye promises to be a bombastic, single player action thriller with strategic combat and even high-speed car chases. It certainly looks like a game with those things, and I’ve no doubt it’ll delight gamers everywhere when it comes out on PS3 later in 2010 PS5 later in 2025.
There are two trailers for MindsEye, one cinematic and one uncinematic:
Shinobi On My Art Until I Venge
We’re so back, baby! Following up the excellent Streets of Rage 4, Lizardcube is returning with another stunning 2D beat-em-up revival, this time in the form of Shinobi: Art of Vengeance. It’s coming on August 29th and it looks pretty lit:
How Come Every Time You Come Around, My London, London Bridge Distort Space And Time?
Souls, Stellar Blade, Shadow of the Colossus and Arthurian legend in one game? I feel pretty good about this one.
Developer Eclipse Glow Studio has come swinging out of the gate with a debut trailer for its single-player action adventure title Tides of Annihilation, which shows off some incredibly flashy combat, colossal giants, a gorgeous modern and medieval fantasy London setting, and summonable spectral knights.
Watch it below:
Warriors: Abyss Wants You To Go To Hell, Right Now!
A shadow drop of a new Warriors game? And it’s a roguelite-inspired spinoff set in Hell? Yeah, look, why not.
But Wait, There’s More
Those are all what I’d consider the headline titles, but there were also a bunch of trailers and news for already-announced games in the PlayStation State of Play, so here they all are!
