Hogwarts Legacy is still expected to release this year, as confirmed by a blog post on Wizarding World – the official website for the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beast franchises. This news comes in contrast to rumours we reported on earlier this week, which pointed towards the upcoming Action RPG by Avalanche Software being delayed to 2023 amid development turmoil.
The blog, which highlights a series of Wizarding World media coming out in 2022, states that “2022 is also the year when the highly anticipated console game from Warner Bros Games’ Portkey Games label, Hogwarts Legacy, is set to be released.”
Strengthening the game’s case to come out in 2022 is a Twitter post by WB Brazil’s official account showcasing the publisher’s upcoming games for this year. It translates to: “Hogwarts of the 1800s is open to you in #Hogwarts Legacy, an open-world #RPG action set in the most famous school of magic and witchcraft in the world. What will your legacy be?”

Earlier this week, Colin Moriarty spoke on his Sacred Symbols podcast that Hogwarts Legacy was experiencing internal development issues and would likely be pushed back to next year. While only rumours, the game had been delayed once before from its initial release window of 2021.
Although Warner Bros. has yet to announce an official release date for the game, the fact they’re sticking to their 2022 plans is a sign of hope for fans. Hogwarts Legacy is a promising-looking triple A game set in the Harry Potter universe, and will be coming out on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.

Harry's friends got sick of him talking about video games all the time, so he decided to express his passion for them online. When Harry isn't cosied up with a good fantasy novel, chances are he'll be grinding his way through a JRPG or obsessively completing a metroidvania.
