Hazelight has revealed their next epic two-player adventure experience to follow up on the wild success of It Takes Two – and the game is called Split Fiction.
Surprising no-one, it looks every bit as bombastic and brilliant as one might expect in a beautiful gameplay reveal trailer shared as part of The Game Awards:
Josef Fares and his team definitely know a thing or two about creating exceptional worlds, with Josef himself breaking down just a handful of the crazy concepts for gameplay gimmicks that await people when they step into the simulated world of Split Fiction:
At Hazelight, we’ve been building co-op games for 10 years, and with every game we push beyond what players expect for action-adventure co-op games. I’m so proud of what we have built with Split Fiction. Let me tell you guys, it’s going to blow your mind, Because Mio and Zoe jump back and forth between sci-fi and fantasy worlds we’ve been able to do some really wild things with gameplay and storytelling. This is definitely our most epic co-op adventure yet.
The game is about two writers named Mio and Zoe, who are pitching their unique stories to a futuristic publisher. One is writing a sci-fi story and the other writing a fantasy story, and the publisher in question seems to use technology to make the worlds come to live via simulation – only a kerfuffle leads to the pair getting stuck in a shared simulation that borrows concepts from both. And don’t you know, that publisher is aiming to just pinch their work like the prick he is.
The features and fun on display look to be vintage Hazelight, so you’d likely want to prime your prior co-op partner to get ready for another epic adventure together when the game drops in March of 2025.
