Jason Is Dead: Friday The 13th’s Game Servers Have Gone Offline

The big man will not be coming back from this one

With the ringing in of a brand new year, there was a small contingent of horror-fans lamenting what this momentous occasion brought other than fireworks – that being the shutting down of Friday the 13th: The Game, a surprisingly stellar asymmetric murder-simulator.

I reported on this all the way back on June 9, 2023, following the news that a lawsuit had forced the end of all further sales of the title – with the future looking overtly grim. Things didn’t get any better when the devs dropped the news that the game’s multiplayer would be supported until at least December 31, 2024.

Seeing as we are past that now, you might have guessed what has occurred.

Of course the diehard community of people who enjoyed dying, hard, have had an outpouring of memes, memories and all-round positivity for a game that really wasn’t like any other:

Many would look down their nose and ask why the hell someone would play this janky mess over something far more focused like Dead By Daylight – but realtalk, F13 was less of a game and more of an experience. Like playing an escape room with random people off the street. Who are drunk. It’s just hard to replicate.

Sure, there a bunch of new asymmetric horror games based on classic IPs nowadays, but man – it is a bummer to see the big man fall down for the last time.
