Amazon has announced Like A Dragon: Yakuza, a live-action series streaming on Prime Video starting October 25.
As detailed in a press release from Amazon, the series is an adaptation of the long-running and highly beloved Like a Dragon series (formerly known as Yakuza) from developer Ryū ga Gotoku and publisher SEGA. The six-episode crime-suspense-action series will follow the life of protagonist Kazuma Kiryu, a Yakuza member with his own sense of justice. Split between 1995 and 2005, the series will follow Kiryu as he is forced to deal with the repercussions of his actions.
The series will be directed by Masaharu Take (100 Yen Love) and Kengo Takimoto (Kamen Teacher), with Ryoma Takeuchi (Loves You as the World Ends) taking on the lead role of Kazuma. It’s safe to expect the series’ narrative to borrow from the games, but we’ll need to wait and see just how faithful this adaptation is.
