British developer Cave Monsters has announced that its point-and-click adventure Lord Winklebottom Investigates will release on July 28 on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
Set in the 1920s, Lord Winklebottom Investigates sees players assume the role of the titular character, who just so happens to be a detective, a giraffe, and extremely dapper, as he investigates the death of a friend. Assisted by his tea-drinking hippo companion Dr. Frumple, the game is inspired by iconic British characters such as Sherlock Holmes and Agatha Christie, and features a crazy cast of animal NPCs and beautiful hand-painted artwork.
Amazingly, Cave Monsters is comprised of a singular developer – Charlotte Sutherland – who has previously worked at Rare and EA, and on games such as Little Big Planet 3. Lord Winklebottom Investigates is the studio’s debut title, and as a lover of point-and-click games, it has been on my radar for a while. I can’t wait to dive in hoove-first and solve the mystery that awaits in July.
