After so many leaks that the internet was starting to look like a punctured neck, the original daywalker Blade has been formally unveiled within Marvel Rivals.
With some killer shades and an even killy-er sword, the half-vampire Eric Brooks is ready to banish the darkness that spawned him:
With some dashes and a deflect ability, it looks like Blade will be right at home on the front lines. While I do not have concrete details, what I have managed to glean from the gameplay reveal is a kit that seems to suggest the following:
| Ability | What It Seems To Do |
|---|---|
| Weapons | Blade (sword, melee) and Gun (long-range) attacks |
| Special Melee | Empower your equipped weapon to do a thing, such as a fun sword flippy-doo for area damage |
| Shift Ability | Dash forward, damaging enemies and reduces their healing and movement speed (TWO charges!?) |
| Ultimate | Unsheathe Dracula’s Sword and do a massive dash forward, damaging enemies and leaving an echo of Dracula’s Sword to damage the area you passed through after a short delay |
| Steroid Ability | Stacking blood meter charge is used to empower Blade, granting life steal to his attacks |
| Block | Enter a guarded stance that reduces damage coming from in front of you |
All speculative of course.
It is nice to see a kit that doesn’t immediately scare the shit out of me, if only because Marvel Rivals is absolutely happy to deploy some bonkers stuff from time to time. Our boy Blade instead just looks he is packing some well rounded tools, but obviously that can all come crashing down if his numbers are absurd – but at least he isn’t blinding us with UV bombs or draining our previous fluids as a gimmick.
I mean, he has a blood meter, so technically he is? But like, it isn’t doing something to us. Know what I mean? No?
Eh, forget it.
While he isn’t coming until the proper midseason patch, this is a fair warning to all healers and DPS that are trying to survive the current Black Panther assault: Blade is coming. He will hurt you. Get ready.
What do you think of the daywalker? Did you catch the assume music reference in his reveal video? Tell us all about it in the comments of on social media.
