Ever since that bittersweet ending of Metal Gear Solid 5 that felt, well you know.. not exactly finished. Fans have been clamouring for that elusive Chapter 3 that was indeed well into production before Konami shut things down. Nobody knows exactly why and we probably never will know what happened in the end.
What we do know however, is that the first post-Kojima Metal Gear title is coming out in the form of METAL GEAR SURVIVE and it all looks rather, odd. It is a spin-off at least.
Set in an alternative universe after the events of Ground Zeroes in which a bunch of soldiers from Militaires Sans Frontières are actually not killed in that massive fuck off explosion and instead transported to God knows where to fight weird crystalline zombies and what we can gather from the trailer, will be some form of Metal Gear.
The next Metal Gear game was always going to be a weird one, with a lot of speculation the series would be going mobile. At least Konami are keeping the game on consoles & PC for now at least. If we all look at the next title as some sort of modern age METAL GEAR ACID or RISING, the sting doesn’t bite as hard.
With all this said and done, it does seems fans are not all too pleased.
METAL GEAR SURVIVE will launch in 2017 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
