New Eye Colours And A New Enemy: Space Marine 2’s December Update Looks Awesome

The end of the year is approaching, but Space Marine 2 has plenty coming

A Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 community update has dropped over at the Focus Together forums, giving players a squiz at all the goodies that await them when the promised “Early December” content drop occurs.

With the roadmap promising a new baddy to boom, some fresh fashion and a new mission to conquer, the forum post sheds some light on what is coming – and it all looks incredible.

Firstly, there is a reminder that the story of Titus continues in Amazon Prime Video’s Secret Level series – and to celebrate the release of the show, exclusive rewards will be available from December 10 to December 31 through Twitch drops. There are no details as to what these speccy goodies might be – but in the past, both cosmetic items and in-game currency had been on offer, so worth checking it out.

Then, the juicier stuff – details regarding the release of Patch 5.0, the next major content update, containing:

  • Dark Angels Chapter Pack
  • Operation: Obelisk
  • New Majoris Enemy: Tzaangor Enlightened

The Dark Angels Chapter Pack shows off a bunch of new cosmetic goodies that have the flair and flavour of the mysterious Dark Angel dorks, some dark green weirdoes that enjoy wearing hoods and being mysterious. All jokes aside, they are a staple chapter of the Warhammer 40,000 universe – so plenty of tabletop fans will be excited to suit up in some winged-heraldry.

As an aside, they also detail the upcoming inclusion of a long awaited feature – with players being able to tint the glowing lenses of their Space Marine helmets. Ever since the game was released, people have asked why this wasn’t a feature, so it’s grouse to see it all sorted with over 15 colours to choose from for your killer shades.

The big ticket gameplay item of the update is the introduction of a new co-op operation mission called “Obelisk”, which takes place during the final act of the main campaign. Returning to the burial world of Demerium, your squad is tasked with tracking down a mysterious doohickey that needs to be macguffin’d to banish the evil demonic douchebags from the world – and the demonic douchebags will retaliate by deploying a new demonic douchebag enemy: the Tzaangor Enlightened.

As a Majoris level enemy, it’s not quite a terrifying threat – but still commands some respect. Mounted on a flying disk, you will need to be scanning the air for this bird-demon-dude so you can anticipate the energy blast it hopes to leverage at you. Some observant legends manage to spot this in an earlier trailer, but this is the formal reveal of such a baddy.

Finally, there will also be some new graphics options in the form of Frame Generation DLSS and FSR 3 support.

It’s a hot spread of new stuff to carry Space Marine enthusiasts through the holiday season – especially when there is new stuff to shoot and new places to do it.

Is it odd that I am most excited to have different coloured eye lenses? What feature of this update has you buzzing? Let us know in the comments or on social media.
