New Report Claims That The PS5 Will Launch Mid-November After The Xbox Series X

It’s all happening in November

The two biggest questions on everyone’s lips are when is the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X launching and how much will they cost? For now, both companies are keeping their cards close to their chest, with neither revealing exact details on the above. Microsoft, however, has publicly locked in a November release for the Series X, and it’s been widely assumed that Sony will launch in the same month.

According to VGC, Sony has “booked significant marketing spend for seven days commencing on Friday, November 13,” which suggests that a launch around that time looks a fairly safe bet, especially considering PlayStation’s marketing deal with Call of Duty: Cold War, which releases on the same day. The report also goes on to state that “Multiple retail sources have also told us that a launch during this window would fit within their expectations.”

Furthermore, the report also claims that sources have indicated to VGC that the Xbox Series X will launch before the PS5. “Microsoft has told developers to plan towards a launch in the very first week of the November, we understand, which would also give it wiggle room to potentially slip into the second week and still launch ahead of Sony.”

It makes sense that both companies would want their consoles out ahead of November’s game release rush which includes big titles such as Cyberpunk 2077 and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, as well as sales events like Black Friday and Cyber Monday. However, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic continues to provide significant challenges to businesses, with VGC reporting that both companies have so far been reluctant to reveal pricing and release information as a result. However, with both consoles expected to launch in November, you would expect both companies to make an official announcement in the near future.
