Sometime news is straight to the point, and glorious. Sometimes the headline says all it needs to say – and in this case, we got the confirmation that the Mortal Kombat 1 guest star Omni-Man (from Robert Kirkman’s Invincible) will indeed be voiced by the same legendary dude who brought the violent Viltrumite to life: JK Simmons.

As far as deadset legends go, Simmons is right up there. The dude is an incredible actor, but has also leveraged his amazing pipes to some incredible characters – especially in the gaming sphere, where he was not only the incredible Cave Johnson from Portal 2, but also the goddarn PRESIDENT of the UNITED STATES in Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3.
So why is it exciting to hear that he will be technically returning to voice our Mortal Kombat guest fighter? Well, Mortal Komabt 11 had the thrilling reveal that The Terminator would be a fighter – only to dash our hopes when it turned out that the main man, Arnold Schwarzenegger, would not be voicing him. This was disappointing, especially when you realise that both Rambo and Robocop would step foot into the carnage; and brought their iconic voices with them – Sylvester Stallone and Peter Weller crushed it.
Here’s hoping this can continue being a trend, as the other two announced guest stars have some iconic players behind them. Both Anthony Starr’s Homelander and John Cena’s Peacemaker would just feel wrong without the dudes who embody them.
Also, did I mention that JK Simmons was the Yellow M&M? Seriously, how cool.
