Our First Look At Marvel’s Midnight Suns Gameplay Has Been Revealed

Following on from its announcement at Gamescom 2021 Opening Night Live, the first look gameplay reveal for Marvel’s Midnight Suns has just dropped.

The trailer only clocks in at around three minutes, but it makes the most of that time, showing us some of the game’s systems as well as the combat. The beginning of the trailer continues to set up the plot, with the new character The Hunter setting plans in motion to take down her mother, Lilith.

We briefly see the player-controlled Hunter walking around a spooky manor in third-person, conversing with a number of heroes. These discussions are shown to contain dialogue choices that can change the relationships that you create with other characters. We also get a quick look at what seems to be a card-based ability system that will dictate the moves that your characters will be able to perform.

Once we get to the combat we see those card abilities in play. Gameplay looks similar in many ways to Firaxis’ XCOM series, with a number of tweaks and changes. We See Wolverine slice a bad guy into an explosive barrel and Magik send a goon into another dimension using a card ability.

The next peak at Midnight Suns that we can look forward to will be a gameplay stream on September 8, where The Hunter and Wolverine take on Sabretooth.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns is set to release on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Switch and PC in March 2022.
