Overwatch 2’s Newest Hero Has A Big Sword And A Big Appetite For Revenge

She has every right to be pissed

After a solid period of teasers, Overwatch 2 has released the latest hero trailer introducing us all to La Lupa – a fierce gladiator lady (g-lady-ator) who has taken the moniker of Vendetta.

Why such a pointed codename? Well, take a look at the trailer and you will see – she aint no hero:

Amongst the robot biffo, we see some insight into the past of our leading lady – more specifically, that she is the daughter of the crime boss Antonio Bartalotti.

Now, that name may not immediately jog your memory – but if you were around for the heyday of PvE missions in the original Overwatch, you may remember the Retribution archives mission. That frenzied escape from talon forces started with the death of Mr. Bartalotti at the hands of Gabriele Reyes, better known as Reaper these days.

So in short, Antonio’s little girl is all grown up – wielding a big sword, and carrying an enormous grudge against Overwatch and Talon agents alike.

It’s a fun bit of narrative to grow within the game, particular at a time where lore has been a trickle rather than a stream.

As for how she plays? I am assuming the sword will come into effect. A gameplay trailer may well be lurking on the horizon – if not, a hero test period will hit the game for a limited time between Nov 26 and Dec 1.
