PlayStation Reveals The Hyperpop Collection Of Exceptionally Bright Controllers

I hope you didn’t want to console covers

PlayStation has revealed the Hyperpop Collection, a range of three DualSense controllers and console cover colours, releasing on March 12.

As announced on the PlayStation Blog, the latest colourways introduced to the PS5 line-up are a trio of vibrant neon DualSense controllers and console covers with a colour gradient and gloss finish. Seemingly inspired by music and “the glow of the RGB lights of your impressive gaming setups,” the collection comprises a Techno Red, Remix Green, and Rhythm Blue set. Each striking controller and cover features a black top that transitions into an eye-bleedingly bright colour with a shiny gloss finish that makes it pop.

Unfortunately, only the DualSense controllers will hit Australian shores, retailing for $134.95 apiece. Pre-orders will open up through the usual retailers on January 16, with the gradient gamepads launching on March 12.

The blog post outlines the design influences, sure, but I can’t help but think of Bungie’s Marathon when looking at this collection. Seeing as the first-person extraction shooter is also slated to release in March, I wouldn’t be surprised if the similar release dates were intentional. In any event, I’m sure these controllers will have a solid fanbase, as they are unlike any other handset available at the moment.
