PlayStation Studios Unveils teamLFG, A Group Breaking Off From Bungie To Work On A “Frog-Type” Game

You know, a frog-type game

Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced a new PlayStation studio named teamLFG and has hinted at what its debut game will be.

In a post on the PlayStation Blog, SIE Studio Business Group CEO Herman Hulst revealed that teamLFG has joined the PlayStation Studios fold. Originally an internal team at Bungie, the developers have now broken off to form their own studio in order to work on an “ambitious incubation project.”

Following the welcome message from Hulst was a statement from the burgeoning team that vaguely described this mysterious debut game, and it’s an odd pitch. “Our first game is a team-based action game that draws inspiration from fighting games, platformers, MOBAs, life sims, and frog-type games.  Players will inhabit a lighthearted, comedic world set in a brand-new, mythic, science-fantasy universe. We can’t wait to reveal more.”

Fighting games mixed with platforms and MOBAs sounds like a Smash Bros. with a hint of DOTA, but the life sim element is an interesting addition. Oh, and there’s the other strange question that arises from this: what on earth is a frog-like game?

If the pitch was strong enough to warrant breaking off from Bungie and creating a new studio, then I guess we’ll have some faith and wait patiently. In the meantime, if you’re wondering what the LFG stands for, it’s quite obviously Let’s F**king Go. Oh wait, I’ve just reread the blog post and according to the team “The “LFG” in “teamLFG” stands for “Looking For Group.” Apparently, this embodies the team’s ethos of friendship, community and belonging. I’m pretty sure it’s what I said, but I won’t argue.

Please, tell me what you think a frog-like game is in the comments or on our social media.
