Pokémon TCG Pocket’s Next Expansion Takes Us To Alola Next Week

Give me Alolan Exeggutor

Pokémon TCG Pocket’s long-rumoured next expansion drop has finally been confirmed, with the new set titled Celestial Guardians and set to include a ton of ‘mons from Pokémon Sun and Moon’s Alolan region.

Arriving at 4PM AEDT on April 30, Celestial Guardians (A3) will feature over 200 new cards to collect in total, including the legendary Solgaleo and Lunala, as well as Sun and Moon’s trio of starter Pokémon, Rowlet, Litten and Popplio.

Celestial Guardians will feature two distinct booster packs, similar to the A2 release and mercifully less than the very first expansion, and doesn’t appear to introduce any major shake-ups a la shiny cards or new battle mechanics, at least not among the cards we’ve seen. It does look like trainers can expect to focus on Stage 2 evolutions in their deckbuilding this time around with a couple of confirmed cards having some interaction there. Rather excitingly we do get our very first immersive Supporter card with a beach-ready Lillie.

Alongside new cards will of course be a heap of new missions to complete and accessories and other rewards to earn, including some special Rayquaza cards – a promo Rayquaza ex as part of a solo battle series kicking off on May 12th, and a full-art Rayquaza ex that can be unlocked by completing special missions. No mention of a card locked behind a shop purchase this time, but we’ll see!

Take a look at the official trailer for Celestial Guardians below:
