The magnificent festival of sales that is Amazon Prime Day is now underway on the website of a million deals, slashing prices and incentivising you to needlessly spend every spare dollar you have on stuff you probably don’t really need, like a Magnetic Shower Squeegee that is just a tiny bit fancier than the one you already have. No? Just me then? Well, alright.
But for those who like to pinch a few pennies when it comes to gaming hardware, Prime Day is a huge opportunity to keep some of your hard earned notes with you – and when it comes to pricey hardware, it is hard to beat the PlayStation VR 2.
Usually fetching a lofty cost of $959.00 AUD, the PlayStation VR2 Horizon Call of the Mountain Bundle has slimmed down for the occasion – now only asking for $738.95 AUD. That over two hundred bucks worth of savings (if you felt so inclined to grab one).
When our own Adam Ryan reviewed the PSVR2, he had plenty to say about the quality and responsiveness of the unit. As far as out of the box VR hardware goes, it met the brief. The main points of consternation came from it’s high cost of entry – it cost more than the console it goes with, for example – but over time the other hard to ignore factor was the lack of software support for the unit.
A paltry handful of games have been released natively to the PS5, and though Sony has announced that an adaptor to use the unit on PC will be made available in early August, that is an entirely different can of worms. So really, if you are still feeling a mighty need to immerse yourself in Sony’s own virtual reality offering, this may be your best bet – short of waiting for product end of life sales on Facebook Marketplace.
And that is just yucko.
Would this make you consider a PSVR2 purchase? Would this have you set, ready for the PC adaptor? Let us know in the comments or on our social media.
