It’s been a rocky launch for Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered in Australia and New Zealand, with the much-awaited Switch and PlayStation 4 port of the Gamecube classic having serious multiplayer connection issues locally. Like, no connection at all (thanks Vooks).
Now, almost a week after release, it looks like Square Enix is finally taking steps to address the issue, starting with removing the title from digital stores (the only place it was available at the time) completely. The company took to Twitter with the following statement:
We have had reports that some players in Australia and New Zealand are having difficulty accessing the multiplayer feature of #FinalFantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition. [1/3] pic.twitter.com/hnflMjTxRy

We understand that this is not ideal and would like to offer our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience caused. We’ll post the latest updates on #FinalFantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition here, so please bear with us. [3/3]

After checking both the Switch eShop and the PlayStation Store we can confirm that the game has been removed from those platforms, save for the ‘Lite’ demo. Square Enix’s statement doesn’t address the potential for refunds or compensation for customers who already purchased the game but we’ll update this story when we hear more.
