Star Wars: Galactic Racer Is A High-Speed Racing Game From Former Need For Speed And Burnout Devs

Now this isn’t podracing

Developer Fuse Games has revealed Star Wars: Galactic Racer, a high-speed racing game coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in 2026.

Unveiled during The Game Awards earlier today, Galactic Racer is a single-player and multiplayer racing game set after the events of Return of the Jedi. Players will race in high-stakes “run-based” races that will include the cutthroat danger of podraces seen in Phantom Menace and the Star Wars Episode I: Racer game from the Nintendo 64.

Galactic Racer will include a single-player campaign centred around a character known as Shade, an up-and-coming pilot seeking revenge and glory by way of the Galactic League competitions that span across multiple worlds. A multiplayer mode will let players take each other on in these physical races, though specifics around this haven’t been shared yet.

While this isn’t a podracing game, it’s damn close, and it features some heavy-hitting racing talent at the helm. Devs who previously worked on both the Need for Speed and Burnout franchises are involved, giving us an idea as to what kind of racer to expect. Lastly, the end of the debut trailer has one nod to poracing in the form of Sebulba, the Dug pilot who butted heads (and pods) with Anakin in Phantom Menace.

The Game Awards ended up being a sizeable showcase for the Star Wars brand, with the bombshell reveal of Fate of the Old Republic also taking place during today’s event.
