Star Wars Outlaws Has Released On Steam Alongside The Wild Card DLC And A Raft Of Fixes And Enhancements

I fold

The first DLC expansion for Star Wars Outlaws, titled Wild Card, has been released today alongside the game launching on Steam.

Wild Card is the first of two eventual DLC expansions included in the game’s season pass. In Wild Card, Kay is contracted to infiltrate a high-stakes Sabaac tournament aboard a casino space cruiser, only to bump into the familiar face and smooth voice of Lando Calrissian. If the launch trailer is anything to go by, the story pack won’t just consist of Kay bluffing and betting, as we see a good dose of action mixed in.

Today also marks the release of Star Wars Outlaws on Steam, previously absent from the popular PC platform. Furthermore, Outlaws has just received another major patch that addresses players’ and critics’ issues with the forced stealth sections throughout the game’s campaign and side content. Along with giving players the option to go loud without being punished, update TU1.4.0 has also promised improved enemy AI detection, the introduction of enemy weak points, improved special weapon mechanics, and more.

This is the latest in a string of updates to Outlaws that rectify some of the major criticisms the game received upon launch. We were more forgiving than other outlets, saying in our review, “The gunplay is good, the mission structure is good, the stealth mechanics are good, the traversal is good. Individually, the components that make up Star Wars Outlaws are varying degrees of alright, but it comes together to be more than the sum of its parts.”

It’s commendable that developer Massive Entertainment has been committed to addressing the issues present in Outlaws, both big and small, and I hope that their work to better the game continues.
