Shocking nobody on this glorious Super Earth of ours, it turns out that the mechanised menace of the Automaton enemy was NOT actually wiped out in its entirety. Instead what we disassembled was a paltry vanguard force, a spearhead that was effectively scouting ahead of the main force – and oh boy, it’s a scary force.
Enter the entire playerbase of Helldivers 2 gearing up for the fight of their life, as one of the tactical assets that the ‘Bots are inching towards represents a fairly big player in the original Galactic War of Helldivers 1.
MAJOR ORDER: All units to LIBCON 1. A massive Automaton Invasion Fleet, comprising tens of thousands of warships, arrived from FTL jump and began an unprovoked invasion of Cyberstan and the surrounding planets. The Reclamation has begun. pic.twitter.com/owsOFNFC6C

Of course this is the escalation that players have been dreaming of, because the only thing better than winning a video game fight is approaching an even bigger one. Even entering the Galactic Map to see this incoming force greeted players with a whole new set of animated assets showing the shocking fleet of Automaton ships swarming into the Valdis sector and moving to decimate a new range of planets. Enter a new major order for the intrepid defenders of humanity: Defend.
To that end, there is a new mission type that represents the desperate rush to defence that is happen – a glorious Helms Deep-esque scenario where you are pushing against waves of the robotic buttheads in the hopes of breaking their seemingly endless ranks. And it rocks.
So treasure your brief moment of respite, and finish up with the Super Earth sponsored parade – It’s time to spill more oil.
Today, Super Earth citizens celebrated the full eradication of the Automatons.

Additionally to reward their bravery, each Helldiver has been issued an extra 1 minute break. [Note: 1 minute is inclusive of the time taken to read this. Helldivers currently deployed are ineligible] pic.twitter.com/fvMnJ5QmOH
A single electrifying thought echoes throughout the playerbase with this desperate major order, with the paltry amount of time to complete it – what if we lose.
There has been a herculean effort on the part of every player, with the outcomes of Operation Swift Disassembly being quite swift indeed. But in this case – with the robots marching ever closer to a the planet Cyberstan (the home world of the Cyborg faction from Helldivers 1) there is a nerve-wracking (read: exciting) thought of what shenanigans might await us.
Well played Joel, well played.
