Blackheart, the Hades-inspired action RPG from New Zealand devs Hyporeal will release in 1.0 on Steam on October 30 the studio has revealed a new in a trailer.
Based on books written by the game’s creative director, writer, and studio co-founder Josiah Hunt, Blackheart tells the story of Azriel Blackheart, who through a bond with a mysterious creature, acquires powers that he must use to save the world from falling apart while dealing with his dysfunctional royal family.
Players will explore a colourful yet dark world, chatting with a unique cast of characters each with their own desires and fears, and fighting off monsters using a fast-paced magical combat. Hunt has said that Hades and Hyper Light Drifter are big inspirations, with the New Zealand dev hoping Blackheart can have a similar impact on players.
Blackheart has spent the past couple of months in Early Access on itch.io, where players could buy a bunch of goodies, including the books written by Hunt, and receive a Steam key for the full release.
