The Lord of the Rings: Gollum Story Trailer Is Here, And People Are Still Asking Why

That’s what I’m Tolkien about

A new trailer has dropped for The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, and while it does a good job of showcasing the narrative elements of the game – people are still wondering what the purpose of the game may be:

In a world full of incredible characters like Aragon, Legolas or even Gandalf himself, it comes across as odd that the spotlight would hit ol’ Sméagol. From the moment Gollum was announced people were curious as to who wanted to play as a malnourished, near nude hobbit.

It’s initial gameplay reveal didn’t really excite people – showing a stealth game that leaned heavily into pacifism and avoiding any kind of confrontation. But for many, the storytelling of it’s world is where the real promise may lay. Who knows, Daedalic Entertainment has gone off the reservation with many quirky, memorable titles in the past – this may just be their next mold-breaking masterpiece – once they can get past all of it’s delays of course.
