The New Netflix Sonic Cartoon Is Looking Real Dystopian

And Rouge the Bat is included for once!

A solid new teaser has dropped for the upcoming Sonic Netflix series, titled Sonic Prime – and oh boy, this teaser actually gives us a real look at the characters and premise of the show.

Eggman is after something known as the ‘Paradox Prism’, a fantastically named macguffin that is immediately smashed and appears to fling Sonic into either another dimension, or a different timeline where he and his friends are an oppressed ragtag team of rebels.

The usual crew is present, with Tails, Amy Rose and Knuckles at the side of the blue blur – but surprising to basically everyone is the appearance of the confusing-to-every-teenage boy character, Rouge the Bat!

Take a look in the teaser below:

A group of ragtag rebels desperately trying to make do in an industrialised hellscape, ravaged with robotic roustabouts? What is this, the Archie Comics?

As much as I am going to miss the ever-lovable Mike Pollock as Eggman, the dastardly doctor-dork still sounds brilliant. If the series doesn’t err too far to the edge of dark and edgy, it may well be something I can enjoy with my young daughter.

Sonic Prime is coming to Netflix on December 15th.
