Naughty Dog may be knee-deep in developing the upcoming multiplayer spin-off for The Last of Us Part II, as well as the rumoured The Last of Us Remake, but that hasn’t stopped the team from having one eye on the future.
According to known industry insider Oops Leaks, the script outline for The Last of Us Part III is done and development could begin sooner than expected. Oops Leaks does state that he’s unsure of the veracity of the information he’s sharing, so do take all of this with a grain of salt.

Nothing but official statements from the studio, the outline of the script is ready, but the studio is engrossed in the development of the aforementioned projects. It is possible that development will begin faster than expected due to studio's expansion.

Other Naughty Dog info shared by Oops Leaks goes on to explain that The Last of Us Part II multiplayer game was originally designed to be a battle royale game before being rebooted. The game now resembles a mix of The Division and Escape From Tarkov, with Factions-like modes included and is a single-player-like experience in a free-to-play online game. Will supposedly launch on PS5 first followed by PC. Furthermore, Oops Leaks states that the studio is working on a new game with a fantasy setting and that Neil Druckmann is not involved.
