Blasting forth out of a Nintendo Direct dedicated to it, eager fans get to feast their eyes on the first trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.
Short and sweet, we get a great update on how Bowser is doing post-first movie – before the stakes ramp up and we see what dangers await our plumbing brothers this time around:
It is packed to the gills with great gaffs and references to other games in the Mario series, seemingly combining elements of Galaxy, Sunshine, and Odyssey to expand the world (well, Galaxy).
Personally I am loving that Luigi and Bowser have bonded – with Chris Pratt’s Mario being an entertaining level of petty. You can also hear a familiar fearful audio sting when Bowser Jr rocks up – it’s the Prowler theme from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
For people awaiting the obvious, the trailer wraps up with a mute introduction of everyone’s favourite space-faring royalty – with Rosalina herself rolling up her sleeves to establish herself as nobody’s punk.
We can likely expect some longer – and girthier – trailers in the lead up to the films release, given that its only a few months away. April 2026 will be here before we know it.
What did you think of the first Super Mario Galaxy Movie trailer? Wondering where Donkey Kong is? Me too. Let’s speculate together in the comments, or on our social media.
