The Switch 2’s First New Joy-Con Colourways Have Been Revealed

Very clean

Nintendo has revealed the Light Green/Light Purple Switch 2 Joy-Con controller bundle, which will release on February 12.

Folks have been wondering how Nintendo would tackle Joy-Con colour variants with the Switch 2 since the console launched, and now we have our answer. For now, at least. Instead of swapping the colour of the entire handset, the red brand has chosen to keep the dark grey shell and change out the colour of the thumbstick ring and magnetic rail. This new set will ditch the red and blue in favour of a lilac and teal combo, which Nintendo are insisting are Light Green and Light Purple.

The set is currently available for pre-order directly through the Nintendo store for $139.95, and will likely hit retailers soon.

I happen to like the more muted, mature look of the Switch 2, with the accent colours shown off subtly through the thumbstick rings. I also really dig the new colours. That said, you’re unlikely to see these colours clearly, as the magnetic rails are only visible when detached from the unit. If you’re after a second set of Joy-Cons, I could see this being a great option, but I don’t expect folks to be dropping that kind of money on such a tiny change otherwise.

In any case, these bad boys will be dropping alongside Mario Tennis Fever, which just got a sizeable overview trailer detailing all of the game’s new modes and features. Spoilers, it’s looking…ace.
