Developer CD Projekt Red has finally revealed The Witcher IV and confirmed that Ciri will be the game’s protagonist.
Opening The Game Awards with a bang, The Witcher IV reveal trailer focuses on Ciri, now a fully-fledged Witcher in her own right. Interrupting a ritual that would see a young woman sacrificed to a “go,” Ciri ventures into a dark cave and does battle with a horrific monster, cleaving off its head before returning to the villagers. Arriving at the township, Ciri finds the young woman has been killed and her father beaten, all for disrupting the work of the gods. In a truly badarse move, Ciri leaves them to their ways, but not before stating, “There are no gods here, only monsters.”
There was no gameplay to be seen, and we have many questions, but this trailer absolutely slaps and closes out with a voiceover from Doug Cockle reprising his role as Geral of Rivia.
