Major video game publisher Ubisoft has announced that it will not be attending E3 this year, instead opting to host its own event in June.
Ubisoft announced in February that it would be at E3 this year; however, that decision has been overturned. Speaking with VGC, an Ubisoft spokesperson explained, “While we initially intended to have an official E3 presence, we’ve made the subsequent decision to move in a different direction, and will be holding a Ubisoft Forward Live event on 12th June in Los Angeles. We look forward to sharing more details with our players very soon.”
The newly-announced Ubisoft Forward event will take place on June 12, the day before E3’s opening on June 13. This is another huge blow to this year’s in-person E3, with Xbox and Nintendo already stating that they won’t be appearing, and Sony has not had any kind of presence at E3 2018. This leaves E3’s big, in-person return without confirmation from any major gaming publishers, despite promises that the show will include AAA companies.
E3 2023 kicks off with its digital week on June 11, with in-person business days running from June 13-15 and general access gamer days running from June15-16.
