After receiving a lifeline and being classified and approved for sale in Australia a couple weeks ago, fans looking forward to playing We Happy Few when it launches globally on August 10 have been hit with a further setback. A representative from a major gaming retailer in Australia confirmed to us earlier today that physical copies of We Happy Few have been pushed back a week to August 17. Both EB Games and JB Hi-Fi’s websites have been updated to reflect this delay. No reason was provided for the delay, but it is assumed that it is due to a stock-related issue. The digital release of the game is unaffected and will still launch on August 10 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
We Happy Few recently failed to attain classification in Australia due to the game’s drug-related themes. However, developer Compulsion Games appealed the decision and thankfully the Australian rating board saw sense and overturned the decision and classified the game with an R18+ rating.
