Dawn Of War 4 Has A Gorgeous New Trailer Bursting With Gameplay Footage

Feast your eyes on the future of grimdark conflict

A new Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4 trailer has debuted as part of the Tokyo Game Show festivities, eschewing any pre-rendered nonsense with some good old fashion in-engine biffo.

With every one of the factions spotlighted, fans can get a real good look at what developer King Art Games is bringing to the table – especially seeing what the Necrons, Orks, Adeptus Mechanicus and Space Marines are fielding in the battle for Kronus:

Captured entirely from in-engine gameplay,  the game is looking pretty spectacular – even with the enormous WORK IN PROGRESS text plastered across the top of the screen. If this visual quality has nowhere else to go but UP, we are going to be in for a real treat.

However, as a Warhammer 40k dork and long-time lover of the Dawn of War series, I will be first in line to say some of the voicework is coming across as a bit lacklustre. I mean, the original game is a hard one to beat – but there is just a little something missing in the Space Marine voices of Dawn of Four. It’s hard to capture the essence of a genetically engineered mega-zealot, but hearing the words “We Shall Know No Fear” uttered with such a casual tone, lacking gravitas, sends a shiver down my spine in the wrong way.

Perhaps it will be a tiny wrinkle in a sea of otherwise spectacular work. The orks sound sufficiently orky at least, but that isn’t hard to achieve with the voice acting direction essentially being “SOCCER HOOLIGAN FROM SPACE.”

All will be revealed as Dawn of War IV marches ever forward to its 2026 release date.

What did you think of the TGS gameplay trailer for Dawn of Four? Did it make you go Phwoar? Or Ehh, Nahr. Tell us all about it in the comments or on our social media.
